How to run it

Chips only, never money. Everyone bets before the deal.

The hand

1. Two cards each. Dealer takes two, one of them face down.
2. Hit for another card or stand. As many as you like.
3. Over 21 and you are bust — the bet is gone whatever the dealer does.
4. Dealer turns over, draws to 16 and stands on 17.

Paying out

• Closer to 21 than the dealer — paid the same again.
• Dealer goes over 21 and everybody still in is paid.
• Ace and a ten card off the deal is blackjack — paid one and a half.
• Same total as the dealer is a push. Take your bet back.
• Cards are face value, pictures are ten, an Ace is one or eleven — your call.

• A deck of cards
• Counters — Chips, coins, matches, buttons — anything countable
