How to run it
Chips only, never money. Everyone bets before the deal.
The hand
- Two cards each. Dealer takes two, one of them face down.
- Hit for another card or stand. As many as you like.
- Over 21 and you are bust — the bet is gone whatever the dealer does.
- Dealer turns over, draws to 16 and stands on 17.
Paying out
- Closer to 21 than the dealer — paid the same again.
- Dealer goes over 21 and everybody still in is paid.
- Ace and a ten card off the deal is blackjack — paid one and a half.
- Same total as the dealer is a push. Take your bet back.
- Cards are face value, pictures are ten, an Ace is one or eleven — your call.
What you need
- A deck of cards
- Counters — Chips, coins, matches, buttons — anything countable
