Beer Pong Cup

How to run it

Pairs, one table. Fill the cups with water and drink separately if anyone prefers.

The format

1. Draw the pairs. Anybody left over referees — fetching the balls, calling the re-racks and settling the arguments.
2. Every pair plays every other pair once.
3. Six cups a side, a ball each. Sink one and it comes off their end.
4. Clear their cups and the game is yours. Write down how many you had left.
5. The best two pairs play the final. With three teams the pair that misses out is third — there is no playoff to be had.

Working out the best two

• Games won comes first. Two wins beats one.
• Level on wins, whoever has most cups left across the games goes through.
• Still level after that, one ball each and closest to a cup takes it.

Worth knowing

• One re-rack a team a game, called before the throw and not after it.
• Elbows behind the edge of the table. The referee is the referee.
• Sips or water, never shots, and nobody has to drink at all — a cup can go down the sink and the game carries on.

What you need

• Ping-pong balls — Buy spares
• Plastic cups — A big stack
• A table — Big enough to play across — a dining table, a garden table, a pool table with a board on it venue

If it goes badly

Losing finalists present the trophy to the winners, and clear the table.
