How to run it
One sealed guess, before the first climber ties in.
The rule
- The instructor, or the wall's own grading board, says which route is the hardest on offer.
- Everybody writes down, in secret, who they think tops it out first.
- Seal it and climb. Open it the moment somebody gets there — right or wrong, that is when it opens.
Worth knowing
- Nobody tops it out all session? It stays sealed and nobody scores.
- Whoever set the route is allowed a guess too, if they are there.
What you need
- A booked climbing session — A wall or a wall centre, with harnesses, ropes and an instructor venue
Nothing here has to be bought.
Before the day
Get the instructor to point out the hardest route on the wall before anybody starts guessing.
If it goes badly
Whoever called it wrong by the widest margin holds the rope for the rest of the session.
