How to run it
Pairs, one from each side of the room. Three minutes each way, then introductions.
The turn
- Introduce your man to the room. Thirty seconds, no notes.
- Everything you say is true except one thing.
- The room votes on which bit was the lie.
- He confirms it.
Paying out
- The room gets it — the room is right and he is off the hook.
- The lie gets through — points to whoever told it.
- A lie so daft nobody could have believed it earns nothing. Make it plausible.
What you need
Nothing. The people in the room and a phone between you.
Before the day
Pair people who do not already know each other, every time. Do the pairing yourself — left to themselves they will pair with whoever they came with.
If it goes badly
Anyone whose lie sails through unnoticed has to keep telling it all weekend.
