How to run it

The class is the challenge. Nobody changes a single ingredient.

The turn

1. At the end of the class, every dish goes out on the same table, numbered rather than named.
2. Taste your way along the table and mark each one out of ten on your own phone. Nobody marks their own.
3. Marks stay sealed until everybody has tried everything, then the room finds out whose was whose.

Worth knowing

• The instructor is a fine judge too, if they are still around and want to be.
• Marking your own the lads member's plate a two, and finding out afterwards, is the point of running it blind.

What you need

• A booked cooking class — An instructor, a kitchen big enough for the group, and something everybody plates up at the end venue

Nothing here has to be bought.

Before the day

Ask the instructor to plate everybody's dish the same way and number them rather than name them — most are happy to.

If it goes badly

Lowest mark washes up for the table.
